NORTHBROOK OFFICE

Rachel Cope, LCSW

Rachel is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW) with extensive experience working with adolescents and adults in a variety of settings. She received her Master degree in Social Work from Loyola University Chicago in 2017, and she also has advanced training with the Institute for Advanced Psychotherapy. She works with adolescents, young adults, and adults struggling with a variety of concerns such as low self-esteem, anxiety, depression, suicide ideation, body image issues, grief and loss, family conflict, trauma, domestic violence, and relationship problems. Rachel utilizes both an attachment focused and psychodynamic approach. Her goal is to help her clients gain a deeper level of self-awareness and to better understand how their past may be influencing their present. She also utilizes components of Cognitive Behavior Therapy (CBT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), and mindfulness techniques to enhance wellbeing and personal growth.

Deciding to begin therapy is a brave step towards healing. Rachel strives to create a non-judgmental and caring space where her clients can explore themselves, their experiences, and their relationships. She believes people heal in relationships with others. No theory or intervention will be successful if the client does not feel unconditionally accepted and supported by their therapist. It is a humbling experience to bear witness to others' pain, and Rachel does not take the responsibility lightly.

Over the past 10 years Rachel has worked in a variety of settings such as a therapeutic day school, a public library, an immigrant rights organization, and a non-profit organization in the country of Ecuador. These unique and varied experiences have shaped the therapist (and person) that she is today. In her free time she enjoys exercising, playing tennis, spending time with family and friends, and riding her motorcycle around town when the weather permits!
